Greg offers one-on-one private magic lessons (virtually, via Zoom) to both adults and older children. There is no previous experience necessary, but students must be at least twelve years of age. The rate for each one-hour lesson is $60.
In addition to one-on-one virtual lessons, Greg also delivers magic lectures to private groups. Please note that Greg’s “Putting the SHOW in Magic Show” lecture is available to groups of magicians only. But Greg offers a different lecture (on the history of magic and mentalism) to ANY interested group of adults. Contact Greg for more information.
Absolutely brilliant! And I’ll tell you why: When I watch a magic lecture, I actually want to learn something, and tonight I learned tons of great stuff! I’ve now talked with nearly all of the magicians who attended your lecture. You were a unanimous and outstanding hit!!! Everybody was totally impressed with your presentation. I didn’t get one negative comment. Everybody found something that deeply resonated with them. You directly impacted everyone with a great variety of material! Thanks again for sharing your expertise and experience with us.

Your lecture was fantastic! I got emails from members complimenting how beneficial and meaningful it was! Many lectures concentrate only on learning tricks, but you taught how to create and make tricks better! Your tips emphasizing the creative process to come up with new ideas were my favorites! Your advice as an actor was also incredibly helpful. Your lecture has made me a MUCH better magician!

Greg is a joyful person and offers great advice! Wonderful storytelling! Greg is entertaining even without the magic! How can I get Greg’s lecture notes?

Having personally seen about a ZILLION magicians’ lectures over the years, I can honestly say that Greg Whalen’s was one of THE BEST lectures I have ever seen! It was invigorating in a very fresh and positive way. I can sincerely and strongly recommend Greg Whalen’s “Putting the SHOW in Magic Show” lecture to all IBM Rings.

Brilliant on all levels!
John McLaughlin, Deputy Director of the CIA, 2000-2004 (and amateur magician)
In all the years I have been in the magic industry, one of my favorite brains to pick is Greg Whalen’s. If you let his easy demeanor lure you into a sense of security, you may fail to realize how thoughtful are his scripts. His presentations are original and full of whimsy. Then, if you are lucky, you get to listen to him talk about his magic, and you realize how deeply he understands comedy, magic and people. If you have a chance to listen to Greg talk about any of those subjects, do yourself a favor and pay attention. You will be rewarded with a wealth of information distilled from decades of in-the-trenches experience. After that, not only will your magic be better, but the reasons why you perform – and what you actually get out of it – may be as well.

As magicians, we already know plenty of tricks. But your insightful lessons on writing and acting are what we really needed! Thanks so much!

Your presentation for the University Club of Chicago, “An Incredibly Condensed History of Magic – Tricks Included!”, was perfect! You were both informative AND entertaining. The skills you have honed, not just as a magician but as a comedian and actor, were as obvious as they were appreciated! A great time was had by all in attendance!
